Red’s Best Fish Cakes are hand crafted with fresh New England ground fish and potatoes, capturing the authentic flavors of this regional staple. Locally caught flaky white fish such as Haddock, Cod, Hake, Pollock and Cusk are used depending on what our local fleet is catching. Perfect as both an appetizer or entree, our fish cakes offer versatility for every meal.

Cooking Instructions -

We recommend the preparation for thawed fish cakes. Thaw for 24 hours in the refrigerator prior to cooking. Do not thaw at room temperature. Since appliance performance and product thickness can vary, adjust cooking times as needed. Refrigerate or discard leftovers immediately.

From Thawed - Pan Fry:

  • Preheat a skillet or frying pan over medium/low heat.
  • Lightly grease the pan with cooking oil or butter.
  • Place the fish cakes in the preheated pan.
  • Cook for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C)

From Frozen - Bake:

  • Preheat the oven to 425°F (218°C).
    Place the fish cakes on a baking sheet.
    Bake for 20 minutes, turn over, and bake for another 12-14 minutes or until internal temperature reaches 165F (74°C).

Ingredients - Quahog meat, Portuguese bread (flour, salt, yeast), yellow onion, saltines (enriched flour (wheat flour, niacin, reduced iron, vitamin B1, vitamin B2, folic acid) soybean oil, salt, corn syrup), butter (cream, natural flavoring), lemon juice, chaurice sausage (pork, vinegar, nonfat dry milk, salt, paprika, garlic, spices, sodium nitrite), crushed red pepper (peppers, water, vinegar, salt, sodium metabisulfite, yellow #5, benzoate soda), canola oil, white wine, parsley, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt

Contains: Wheat, Milk

Frozen Shelf Life: 9 months. Refrigerated Shelf Life: 4 days.

Easy Seafood Recipes - Salt and pepper. Pan sear in oil or butter and finish in a 375 oven for 5 minutes or until just cooked through. Finish with lemon. For more inspiration, try Roasted Halibut With Lemons, Olives and Rosemary or Pan Seared Halibut with Lemon Caper Sauce.

Did You Know - U.S. wild caught from Connecticut to Maine and up through Canada, Atlantic Halibut is the largest species of flatfish in the world and one of the largest fish in the Gulf of Maine. The fillet is thicker than cod and when uncooked the flesh is white and almost translucent. When cooked, the meat is bright white. Halibut was named MSC certified as sustainable in 2013.

Mild with a sweet flavor profile, hake has a soft flesh and holds together extremely well while cooking making it a great choice for fish stews, fish sandwiches and fish tacos. Hake has softer flesh and is less flaky than other whitefish such as cod, haddock, and pollock. 1 portion is approx. 16 oz (1 lb). We recommend 8 oz per person. This product is 10 individually packed 1 lb fillets.

Easy Seafood Recipe - Sear in oil over medium-high heat. Cook for 2 minutes. Lower heat and add butter. Let butter brown for 2-3 minutes. Remove from the heat. Flip fillet and then roast in the oven until opaque. For more inspiration, try Baked Chorizo Orzo with Hake, Sheet Pan Roasted Fish  or South Indian Hake Curry.

Known as poor man's lobster, monkfish is mild with a firm dense texture similar to lobster. Monkfish is a great option for stewing, grilling and poaching as it holds together very well while cooking. 1 portion is approx. 16 oz (1 lb). Easy Seafood Recipe - Butterfly the fillet. Coat in oil, salt and pepper and grill over med-high heat until opaque. For more inspiration, try Monkfish Stew with Saffron Broth or Zesty Grilled Monkfish Skewers.
