Triggerfish - New England 1lb

$29.00

Triggerfish are prized for their firm, white flesh that’s often compared to grouper, making them exceptionally versatile and delicious. These fish are not commonly seen in Massachusetts, only showing up during the warmest months of summer into early fall when ocean temperatures rise.

Easy Seafood Recipes - Brush triggerfish fillets with olive oil and season with sea salt, cracked pepper, and smoked paprika. Grill them in a hot cast-iron pan for 3–4 minutes per side until nicely charred and just cooked through. Top with fresh lime and tuck into warm tortillas with your favorite taco fixings.

Health Benefits - Triggerfish is a lean source of protein packed with essential nutrients like vitamin B12, selenium, and phosphorus that support energy, bone health, and immune function. It’s also low in fat and provides heart-healthy omega-3 fatty acids, making it a wholesome choice for a balanced diet.

Did You Know - Triggerfish get their name from the unique “trigger” spine on their dorsal fin, which they can lock upright for defense and then release with a hidden second spine. Known for their tough skin and powerful jaws, they can crush crabs, clams, and other shellfish with ease. These colorful, diamond-shaped fish are also highly territorial, often guarding their nests aggressively against much larger intruders. While they’re most abundant in warmer waters, they sometimes wander up to Massachusetts in late summer when the ocean is warmest, making their appearance here a seasonal surprise.

Peak Freshness - Fish is high tech flash frozen and vacuum sealed at peak freshness from the ocean. Seafood is delivered to your door moderately thawed on dry ice and may be put either directly into your freezer to keep at restaurant quality for up to 9 months, or thaw under refrigeration prior to cooking. Product has 4 day refrigerated shelf life.

Frozen Shelf Life: 9 months. Refrigerated Shelf Life: 4 days.
