Fluke, also known as summer flounder, has good body with delicate flavor and flaky fine texture. Cooking fluke, like other flounder is best kept simple. This versatile, easy to prepare fish is a staple in our own freezers. It is great for broiling, pan-roasting and ceviche. 1 portion is approx. 16 oz (1 lb). We recommend 8 oz. per person.
Easy Seafood Recipe - Lightly coat flounder in flour, salt and pepper and pan roast in oil on medium until opaque. For more inspiration, try Flounder with Herbed Couscous or Fried Fluke Po Boys.
Health Benefits - Flounder is a good low-fat source of B vitamins and niacin. Niacin is a B vitamin that's made and used by your body to turn food into energy. It helps keep your nervous system, digestive system and skin healthy. It is also excellent for low card paleo and keto diets.
Did You Know - Summer flounder is U.S. wild-caught from Maine to North Carolina. These left-eyed flatfish are nicknamed “chameleon of the sea” because they’re able to change their coloring to blend in with the texture and color of the bottom where they live.
